Our building is mostly wheelchair accessible. The main entrance on the west side (tower location) allows step-free access to the Sanctuary while the east entrance allows step-free access to the Church Hall where most of our events take place. There is a lift between the two floors. There are wheelchair accessible washrooms on both floors.
Mobility
There is a ramp up to the altar area, on the left side of the church, facing the altar.
If you cannot comfortably negotiate the steps up, or ramp, up to the altar, you are very welcome to receive Holy Communion in one of the pews or sitting in your walker next to the baptismal font. If you cannot comfortably kneel at the altar, please receive Holy Communion standing.
During the service, we stand in respect of God when we meet Him in the Bible readings and certain other parts of our liturgy. If you cannot get up comfortably, please remain seated; there are many other ways of showing respect.
To reach the Library or the office, you must ascend two steps from the Sanctuary. If that is difficult for you, please let us know, and we will endeavour to assist.
The choir loft and tower above are not wheelchair accessible.
If you are not able to come to church, we hold monthly services at Dania Home, Dania Manor, and Swedish Assisted Living. Moreover, our pastor can come to your home. Contact the pastor to discuss a visit: pastor@danishchurch.vancouver.bc.ca.
